The upper D here in NJ hold shad well into June. Not sure where Roy caught his though. But he lives up north here, so I am assuming well upstream of I-78 and possibly north of I-80.

Yeah, they are up there year round in some numbers or so it seems. Shad love to turn right at Junction Pool and hit the East Branch over the WB most every time. That should change in time as NYC works hard above Cannonsville to fence out cows from streams, revegetate the riparian corridors of tributaries to the upper West, etc. Water quality is getting better and better into the reservoir and hence into the river below the reservoir.
