Backing

Post by njcatchrelease » Tue Nov 05, 2019 12:40 pm

I am going to pick up a new fly line for Pike fishing. I am going with the RIO INTOUCH PIKE/MUSKY in a 9wt. I also need to pick up some backing and can't believe the cost of backing. What do you guys use for backing? Any recommendations? I was thinking of either 20lb or 30lb at around 250 to 300 yards. My 9wt setup has a small arbor reel so I need to fill it up with backing.

Pike won't take you into the backing, no need to purchase high end, basically a spool filler. I use the least expensive Cabelas brand.
