22" Largemouth
22" Largemouth
Caught this nice one over in Pa on my day off. Took a buzzbait tossed near a stump. I had no scale but at least 5lbs.

that's a heck of a bass! Do you use the same UL as for trout fishing or do you use a medium action rod with heavier line? I am getting into warmwater fishing, you can loose a lot of expensive lures pretty quick!

Those that size are a lot of fun on a Tenkara rod. OK, I may not have caught one that size On a Tenkara, but I've been close.

Not as big and I don’t have much in this photo to extrapolate size.

Re: 22" Largemouth
I use a 6 foot, medium action rod with only 6 lb test. I can get much more distance on my casts with the lighter line but the trade off is once fish go into the heavy stuff, that line wont hold up.
Another solid one I caught on saturday was just shy of 22"
Nice 17" smallie on sunday from a Pa reservoir

Re: 22" Largemouth
I use 8lb for the extra security when the fish go into the wood or rocks. I mostly bass fish from a boat so distance isnt as much of a factor.
Also, nice fish!

Nice fish! I use a 6’6” medium rod with 8 lb test-To me it feels heavy compared to my UL/4lb test, but I see a lot of these bass guys use like 30 pound braided line and hank fish out of the water. This set up will allow me to catch everything from large pan fish to bass to catfish up to 10-15 pounds(there are much bigger catfish here in Dc that you can catch on whole carp, but when fishing with chicken liver, most fish are in the 5-15 pound range.
I absolutely love my Made in the USA 6’6 inch Saint Croix ultra light rod. I usually use 4 pound test, although I have used 2 pound before. The rod is so sensitive that you will feel the slightest nibble when fishing small jigs and you can cast further and dap better than a shorter UL-I love it for crappie, white perch bluegill and trout and it can handle bass as well, especially when jogging or using a mepps 2 spinner. Yesterday I was jigging for crappie with tandem trout magnet/maribou jig rig and had the fight of my life with a 5 + pound channel cat- it just kept peeling of drag, which I had to let it do considering the 4 pound test. While a relatively small catfish for the DC area, it surprised the heck out of me and my kid that a kitty cat would hit a crappie jig!

Caught this LMB on Easter-I am not good with estimating weights, but it felt like a bowling ball when I lifted it out of the water.
