Slime dart
Slime dart
Fished cotexen lake and Kirby's Mill in Medford. Usuallt get small largemouth and occasional small pickerel. Thos was a bigger one that was hesitant to bite. Hit a Rapala neutral stick bait jerked slowly in and left to stand a few seconds. It chased once, Then hit once. Dont know how two large treble hooks missed but...it disappeared. 20 minutes later I came backnand first cast whaammmo.

In about three weeks, I'll be marking the 58th anniversary of my first fish on a fly -- a good sized pickerel from Medford Park. There used to be some nice ones there.
They're actually good eating -- take a fillet off the top of the back first, then one off each side.

I find bass and cats in the park. Especially the linear park down to the bridge, by the horses and the graveyard. I talked to a couple of guys who caught some nice pickerel in there. Tough fishing with a fly rod through there. I did it once....redietz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 5:25 pmIn about three weeks, I'll be marking the 58th anniversary of my first fish on a fly -- a good sized pickerel from Medford Park. We harvested a big pickerel once while ice fishing-i do remember the meat being sweet and mild. I dont remember if we filleted it or not, but there sure were a lot of bones!redietz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 5:25 pmIn about three weeks, I'll be marking the 58th anniversary of my first fish on a fly -- a good sized pickerel from Medford Park. Pickled pike is delicious. My father in law, made some badass pickled pike. He was from Wisconsin. All those toothy water critters are delicious. Walleye being the best imo.
