So true. Ive had years when I have caught practically nothing like last year and years when I have caught 100+. Find the bait and sit and wait.

They "reopened" my favorite spot at the Rip on Sandy Hook so I may make one more walk out. John where are you fishing?

Yesterday I fished at LBI but that wasnt good with a raging surf and tons of seaweed on every cast. Nothing happening at the inlet either. Havent fished locally much lately mostly because of the weather. Think the big fish have left, leaving mostly shorts which usually stick around intil we get a decent snowstorm. Some years they stick around into January.. Ill be out this week.

Are you talking about the bird nesting closure each year between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends? That's an annual closure. Or maybe something nearer the Coast Guard base? The true Hook is near the CG station and the false hook is to the east/northeast a bit.

Yes, the "Rip" is back by the Coast Guard station.

They were dredging the area so it naturally was closed, I would prefer to not be there during that even when the fishing was fantastic. Lucky for me a very close friend works at the Hook and "helps" me with access when needed.
