The Ridge & Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited will be holding a special cleanup of the Lopat at Strykers Road and Lock Street sights starting at 9 am. These two sites are or will be publicly owned lands that TU's staffer, Cole Baldino, will be restoring using my Trout Scapes River Restoration LLC firm sometime in 2019. This is a major restoration that will include nearly 15 acres of riparian buffer plantings, nearly one mile of in-stream habitat restoration, better connectivity to the floodplain by lowering incised banks (badly eroded banks as high as 4'), and improved public access and signage. This is native brook trout and wild brown trout water on NJ's only pure limestone spring creek.

The cleanup is very much needed, and Cole and his partners are beginning to take funders on tours of the sites, so we wanted to get out front and show them we care about these sights and want to keep them clean more than just our once a year September cleanup of this Creek with our partners at the Lopatcong Creek Initiative. RVTU will be fundraising for up to $15,000 for the plantings alone while Cole and partners obtain the major funding to do the in-stream and bank restoration work.

More details on exact meeting locations coming soon.....

Only 3 days left, can you feel the excitement to clean the stream??? :D

Hope some of you can join us in cleaning up what will be two future restoration sites in great need of that restoration. Both sites will be are already are public lands. Learn more about TU's big project to restore proper river functions of this important limestone spring creek that provides drinking water to many downstream users that draw from wells or the Delaware River directly which is where it flows into.
