Just in fresh off the news desk.....

It is great to see NJ using these funds via a competitive grant process to restore the Pequest and the Paulinskill!

I fished the Paulins Kill once with a group of Scouts at Columbia WMA. Do not have fond memories of it  I imagine the dam would be a good target for removal if it is still there.

That dam was removed and we now have American shad, striped bass, river herring, and American eels moving freely upstream after more than 100 years of not having that access to their ancestral spawning habitat. My guess is The Nature Conservancy will pursue funds to remove the Pulina Dam which is now the 1st blockage above the Delaware and the town of Blairstown who own the dam are willing and wanting to remove it.

Roughly 11 river miles to the dam above the downtown area of Blairstown.

Agreed. Now all we need is several hundred million dollars and some time. :D

The best news about this grant is it is the first time in memory the state offered up funds taken from illegal polluters as a competitive grant to restore portions of two watersheds.
