A man after my own heart . Ive had this reel since I was a 11 years old. Im 52 yo now. Still smooth as the 1st day I used it opening trout season 41 years ago

I have few from my youth as well, plus a couple Garcia UL rods. When the mood strikes me i take them out an catch a few trout for old times sake. The gear might be shinier and pricier but they don't make them like that anymore.
Can you still get bale springs for the 308? That was really the only "bug" with that reel.

Well yes & No. I bought a bag of the original replacements awhile back from a sporting good shop that had closed down. I usually pair the 308 with UL Garcia Conolon 2pc. Nothing like it. Using some Hi-Vis 4lb test Stren. Life doesnt get much better then that
