Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:
Save the trout for the urban duck ponds. Had quite a few bugs coming off the river today in Manville. No fish caught though.

Just curious why you're against stocking there?

I was being sarcastic. Most urban duck ponds will be stocked good in the coming weeks, the Raritan river will get a few but none near Manville.

It's the opposite. He posts this up about 3X/week on all the social media sites he's on. I love him for the stream cleanup work he does so selflessly, but he's a broken record with wanting the Division to stock the hell out of the lower Raritan River with trout because that's the river he fishes. It doesn't matter to him that the mainstem Raritan regularly goes over lethal temperatures for trout often beginning as early as May and then well into September most years whereas rivers like the Musconetcong, Spruce Run Creek, etc. are cold enough for trout all summer long.

Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:
He's got a hard on for anywhere else that gets stocked over the mainstem Raritan, geez enough already. Like a whiny girl. It's much better smallie water, yes occasional holdovers do show up but lord be why are you so jealous of other places. Enjoy what's out there don't hate all the time, its bad for your health.

Put-and-Take Management Strategy: Catchable-size rainbow trout are stocked for immediate harvest to provide a short-term, seasonal fishery. Survival of stocked trout through the summer period is not expected (or poor) because suitable summer trout habitat (temperature < 21°C and dissolved oxygen > 4 mg/L) is absent, marginal, or sporadic. The trout-stocked waters managed under this stocking strategy include park ponds, shallow lakes, and warmwater streams. These waters are stocked in the spring and may be stocked again under the fall or winter program.
Put-Grow-Take Management Strategy: rainbow trout are stocked for immediate and/or delayed harvest to provide a long-term, year-round fishery. Suitable habitat is consistently available to sustain trout throughout the year such that survival and growth of unharvested, stocked trout over more than one growing season is expected. Trout-stocked waters managed under this stocking strategy, that are stocked with catchable trout, include coldwater streams and deep lakes that are capable of supporting trout year round, where wild trout populations are limited or absent. These waters are stocked in the spring and may be stocked again in the fall or winter.
Rahway river gets close to 12,000 trout while the Raritan gets 3,000- both considered warm water correct ?

Stop picking on Rahway , we did give you the opening scene of Oceans 11 & 12 . Also we gave you Lock Up with Stallone .... That alone should get us 18, 000 Trout . Not to mention Carl Sagan .

Nah, he'd rather post about me and trying to make me out as the single voice for TU on NJ Fishing or whatever that site name is when it comes to why "his river" shouldn't get any more stocked trout than it already gets.

Well I live in Hoboken. There aint no river to fish in Hudson county for trout. I have to travel to the trout. For sure they aint gonna swim to me. I make daily trips to Musky, S. Branch, Ramapo, Paulinskill,Pequest, and a few others when I get the urge & time.Rusty Spinner wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 10:48 amNah, he'd rather post about me and trying to make me out as the single voice for TU on NJ Fishing or whatever that site name is when it comes to why "his river" shouldn't get any more stocked trout than it already gets.

Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:
Exactly. But some anglers want every species of fish that swims stocked into whatever waters they fish the most. I prefer to travel to wherever those fish are native whenever I can with obvious exceptions (wild browns, for example here in the US when they are from Europe).Troutman wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 4:11 pmWell I live in Hoboken. Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:
It's not a river, but you can catch trout up at that lake in West New York by 85th street. Also, you can get some decent stripers in April/May off the Hoboken pier, not to mention some interesting conversations with the motley crew of fisherman there.Well I live in Hoboken.
Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:
Fished there a few times just for s*its & giggles. Imo place is a cease pool . Almost everyone powerbaits it. A bucket & stringer place for real. But thx for the suggestionmartalus wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 5:15 amIt's not a river, but you can catch trout up at that lake in West New York by 85th street. THE HOBOKEN MONKEY-MAN
Rumors had been circulating throughout the Hoboken school system during the month of October, 1982 about a mysterious ape-like creature that came to be known as the "Hoboken Monkey-Man."
This half-man, half-beast Monkey-Man was accused of terrorizing school hallways, attacking children walking home, throwing students out of windows and even killing a teacher.
The Hoboken police department, upset with the disturbing rumors that lasted over two weeks, set up a task force to inform the students as to the true facts (or non-facts) behind the scare. The Public Safety Council was called in to help quell the hysteria that pervaded throughout the community.

Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:
I caught a few nice brook trout on the fly several years ago in that lake, but you need to watch your back cast with all the people on the jogging path-The best spot was in a little channel by the island.
Re: Raritan river 3/9/19:
Watch your cast, I say put on a Michigan Cricket and let the back cast fly!!! Jk of course!!!
