First trifecta of my life
First trifecta of my life
Hit the upper SBR today caught my first wild brook trout. Than I followed it up with a rainbow. Stated getting nervously excited that I might have a shot at the trifecta which I've never done and I eventually got a wild brown. I than ended the day by landing a really nice brown. I ditched the fly rod for the day and went with an ultralight and mepps spinner cause there's a ton of tight spaces that are tough to get a fly into. I didn't attach the pic of the rainbow cause it would only let me attach 3 and it was just a stockie anyways. Sorry the pics kinda suck.

Re: First trifecta of my life
Congratulations. It is really special to be able to catch all 3 species in one day.

It's always a great accomplishment to land all three.

Nice job. First one looks camera shy

I hate to be the bearer of bad news ....But these pics are of a Brookie and two Browns....

There is not much you can't catch with a Mepps spinner! Especially effective in slightly high/off color water.

He said he wasn't able to snap a photo of the stocked rainbow in his post. He explains that he caught the two browns with the larger once coming later in the day.Mickey022752 wrote: ↑Mon May 13, 2019 10:57 pmI hate to be the bearer of bad news ....But these pics are of a Brookie and two Browns....

Mepps joke are funny...hurtful but funny. Here's a pic of the rainbow. I'm assuming it got stocked by state so it traveled a decent ways upstream from the first stocking point in Long Valley.

Looks like a club stocked Kamloops bow to me. Anglers Anonymous or Harbe Dan most likely. That bright silver and fine spots gives them away over our state fish. We do have some wild bows in that river as well.....

Your post also reminded me that I haven't used a net in quite a while. I have become such a fly fishing minimalist that pretty soon I won't even be carrying a rod
