Summer Time Fishing
How will you spend your time fishing now that the heat is here? Another type of fishing? Tying flies? Cutting the grass?

Re: Summer Time Fishing
Trout in tailwaters, fluke at the ocean, and largemouth with the fly rod from my new belly boat. Fall will be here soon, and then I switch to archery deer hunting and later bass and blues and Albies in the surf or offshore. Some local fall trout, I'm sure, but I find myself fishing NJ for trout less and less each day. Catching mostly stocked rainbows unless I want to fish a small stream for wild trout is taking its toll on boredom for me.

Lots of fish in the lakes around the musky and pequest areas. I tie up fishy looking, heavy flies and bring the kayak. Also, you can wade the Delaware around Milford and Frenchtown. I get up early and am usually done between 7and 10. PM me if you want fo check some lakes around hackettstown out.
Re: Summer Time Fishing
I fish for wild browns in the summer up in Deposit & Hancock NY Upper Delaware river. Water temps remain in the lower to mid 60's all summer long

Think I'm gonna try the carp game this summer .
Re: Summer Time Fishing
Try fishing the lower SB Raritan, and the upper main stem for smallies. Good fun.

Definitely smallmouth fishing on the Raritan (all branches) and the Delaware. Largemouth fishing in the yak, too, at most of the local lakes.
Re: Summer Time Fishing
Hit the Big D in and below the water gap for smallies and the occasional walleye. Riffles/just adjacent to riffles by day and shallow water at magic hour with poppers.

My wife and I fish the local pond, Garvey's pond, for sunnies. Much fun with a fly rod. They will take anything, so it is a good way to use poorly tied flies that I won't use for trout. It is a 15 minute walk, or a 3 minute drive from the house.

Re: Summer Time Fishing
I try to make a few trips to the tailwaters I fish, but other than that, trout fishing comes to an end for me until the fall.
The family and I have taken to Kayaking so I try to catch some sunnies and bass on the 6wt while we're out. Other than that I am putzing around at the vise watching Tim Flagler videos.

Jealous. I wish NJ had some nice tailwater to support a trout fishery.Rusty Spinner wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2019 8:58 amI'm running up to the West Branch tomorrow for some tailwater dry fly fishing.
