The most disappointing thing when you are dry fly fishing:

Discovering your fly is down.

Hello, The worst thing is on your back cast you realize that darn tree moved to catch your fly. The trout are bouncing all over the place and your fly is in a tree 10 feet up. What to do, pull until the tippet breaks and then by the time you get your line back minus a good portion of your tippet the fish will probably be off there feed. The best thing to do is drink your beer that you bought with you and shake your head. But don’t give up, another hatch will be in another hour or so. So sit back enjoy the beer and look at the trees laughing at you. Bill the mailman

Winter fly fishing in Colorado can be some of the most peaceful times you’ll ever have on the water. There are very few anglers on the water the fish are still feeding and you have a chance at some true trophies. Colorado has always been known for its monster tail water trout, and this is the time of year to get after them.

Speaking of dry flies, the streams in southern Morris county have been abuzz with activity recently. I fished a wts on Monday and the trout were rising for what looked like #18 blue winged olives. I didn't even bring my nymph-fly box into the stream with me.
