Has anyone started cutting the oriental bittersweet along the streams in the tristate area.
they are starting to kill even very large trees along the streams you fish.

Many landowners attempt to control Celastrus or oriental bittersweet all over the state. It's a problem not just along rivers, and it is killing native trees left and right when left unchecked. Yet another of hundreds of invasive plants and animals that now call our area home. I just left a small farm on Holland Brook in Readington (not trout water) and the riparian area was all the cast of characters. There was Japanese stilt grass, multiflora rose, Japanese barberry, oriental bittersweet, mugwort, garlic mustard, etc., etc., etc. It gets depressing at times if you stop to see the damage to our native ecosystems.

I have lots of Japanese stilt grass in my yard, where ever the sun shines...also Voorhees state park is over run with that stuff in several areas.

I often wondered if that stream along 523 had any fish in it. Chub and sunfishwater? Any smallies?
