Fall Stripers
Fall Stripers
Best Fall Striper fishing in years going on right now. As usual you have to be in the right place at the right time but it has been amazing so far.
Re: Fall Stripers
I was just thinking to try my luck in the hackensack @ the meadowlands in a few days myself

Was known as Troutman1
Re: Fall Stripers
If you are fishing the meadowlands area, you may also tangle with some feisty white perch, Stripers spirited little cousins!
Re: Fall Stripers
Fished Sandy Hook last night, this run of stripers is ridiculous. 30 of us side by side ripping keepers one after the other and 30 feet from shore!
Side note: only saw 1 guy keep a fish..... I regret not keeping the 10lb fish I caught on my last cast.

Re: Fall Stripers
It truly is amazing. Ive been doing this for many years and have never seen anything like it. On Sunday there were probably 100 boats off Sea Bright and more ip on Raritan Bay. The point Pleasant and Belmar party boats were there and some boats as fsr away as LBI.
Re: Fall Stripers
Last night was great top, long walk to the false tip of Sandy Hook. All 4 I got were over 10lbs and the one I kept was 32" and close to 15lbs. LONG WALK back with a fish that big.
Re: Fall Stripers
Yes, been there, done that but too old to do it anymore.
Re: Fall Stripers
Yeah I am feeling it today especially since I got lost in the dark for a hot minute and carried that fish back.
Not sure if I am going today w my work schedule, tomorrow 100%

Re: Fall Stripers
Sounds like fun! What do you get them on in the surf?
Re: Fall Stripers
Rubber/plastic shads and surface poppers or swimmers. Thats about all you need unless sand eels are around then its metal lures with tails.
Re: Fall Stripers
All depends on where I am at and the weather. Earlier in the week I was using a pencil bait and topwater. Wednesday was all on EliasV Shads in pearl white, 6" with 1.5ox jigheads.
Re: Fall Stripers
Perfect day yesterday at Sandy Hook. Flat ocean, no wind, warm day and bunkers and stripers in the wash and no boats to put the fish down. Fish were there from daybreak until I had to leave around 9 oclock. Mostly keepers with a few shorts mixed in. It doesnt get much better than that.

No end in sight. If you have never caught a striper, now is the time to try. Does not matter what you throw at them.

Re: Fall Stripers
Been like that in Monmouth County for weeks but based on the last couple of days it seems that the main body of fish have finally moved South. Last couple of days here have been small fish with a keeper a rareity.

Re: Fall Stripers
It has been an unbelievable year for bass. And there is no reason as to why. Our new regulations here in NJ certainly haven't done much yet to add bass to the population although it will in time. Maybe because we have more bunker for many years now, but that's the only thing I can put my finger on as far as why so many fish. Hopefully it only gets better over time.

Only because they are in surf range. It was like this last year into January, but you had to be in a boat. Where the bait goes, so go the stripers.
