Winter Trout Fishing Seminar

Post by 46er » Tue Dec 09, 2025 4:02 pm

State held one this past Saturday close by in Jackson so attended. Good turnout, we don't get much attention south of 195. Just basic stuff, 1 1/2 hour, given by the last person I would have expected to give a trout seminar, one of the Captains of the Gambler party boat. Guy was good, knew his stuff, been trout fishing since a kid. State is trying to get more interest in fishing, I would expect to see more similar programs.

Ralph,
That would be Chris Lido, a buddy of mine who worked as a guide for me at Shannons when I was Jimmy's head guide. Chris is a solid guy, and he has been in the NJ fishing industry his entire life. He was editor for In Fisherman for years when that publication was a big one. Chris married into the Bogan family, hence why he now works on the Gambler after getting his Captain's license a couple years ago.

Didn’t Chris also write for NJ Angler ( I think that was the name) when that publication was out for a few years? I recognize his name.

I used to know Lido back in the day when we frequented the same small Hunterdon County streams! Send my regards!

Trout magnets on a Tenkara rod work great in the winter!!!! As a bonus that technique also pisses off every other style of fisherman
